We’re so excited to announce that our British Bianco Vermouth has won an incredible 2 stars at the Great Taste Awards 2025.
Some highlights from what the judges had to say:
"Judges enjoyed the lightly bitter, balanced, complex finish with many of the botanicals presenting individually but harmoniously. A rich but not overpowering, off dry sweet vermouth, an excellent and rewarding aperitif."
"Bright apples pierce through nicely on the nose and deliver a similar impact on the palate. Sweet and complex with hints of elderflower alongside lots of sweetness. A really interesting and enjoyable vermouth, this would be a lovely mixer in a cocktail."
"A lovely sunny gold shade in the glass. The aroma is a gentle, inviting meld of floral and fruit notes, suggestions of spice and hints of grape. On the palate, the medley of notes is clean and clear, reflecting no doubt the careful distillation. The overall meld is pleasingly complex and makes for truly satisfying sipping - let alone multiple cocktail uses."
Congrats to the 58 and CO distillers, especially Siobhan who led this project and brought the stunning liquid to life. Cheers! 💛🍋🌿
MAKING BRITISH BIANCO VERMOUTH
Vermouth is still fairly misunderstood and a small corner of the British market, but thanks to the rise in popularity of the Negroni (cin cin, Tucci) this vivacious and versatile liquid is on the up in the UK. Our team have always been huge fans and dreamed of making a vermouth, but where would we get our hands on a significant amount of wine to make our dreams come true? Enter, Laylo.
Laylo are shaking up the wine world, showing that you really can deliver great wine on tap. Their boxed wine is no joke, delivering beautiful liquid direct to your door in the most gorgeous packages. Founder Laura and her team are on a mission to make boxed wine better, sourcing fantastic wine you’re proud to share with your friends and family. Being fans and followers of the brand since its launch, the 58 and CO team reached out to discuss collaboration opportunities when ‘fortunately’ it transpired that Laylo had a couple of pallets of Pinot Grigio that was ‘past its best’.
Taking inspiration from the wine’s Italian roots made by third-generation winemaker, Arrigo Bidoli, in Friuli - a cool, alpine territory in North Eastern Italy - 58 and CO have given the bianco-style vermouth a British twist with hand-picked botanicals grown in the garden of 58 and CO’s East London distillery.
HOW TO DRINK VERMOUTH
With notes of bright lemon verbena, fresh orchard fruit and warming vanilla, enjoy 58 and CO British Bianco Vermouth chilled over ice, lengthened with Mediterranean Tonic or in a Spritz.
We're also currently obsessed with it paired with London Dry Gin and Red Bitter in a Negroni - check out our Negroni collection here or more vermouth cocktail recipes here.
